Mr. Argilagos is a co-founder and Executive Chairman of the Board of Viamericas Corporation. Prior to founding Viamericas, Mr. Argilagos was a founding partner in Angel Interactive Capital, a New York based venture capital firm specializing in new media and technology companies, and was a Managing Director at Merrill Lynch based in New York. Over his sixteen-year career with Merrill, Mr. Argilagos was one of the persons responsible for establishing the firm’s fixed income derivatives business as global head of the Investor Strategies Group, was appointed chairman of Merrill Lynch International Bank and was global head of the firm’s foreign exchange operation. Mr. Argilagos graduated from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in 1983.
Paul Dwyer has been Chief Executive Officer of Viamericas since it’s founding. Prior to founding Viamericas, Mr. Dwyer was a partner with the Latin American Practice Group of the Washington DC-based law firm Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering (now WilmerHale). While a partner in that practice, Mr. Dwyer had first chair responsibility for a wide range of financing and acquisition transactions in Latin America. Prior to joining Wilmer, Mr. Dwyer practiced law with Rogers & Wells (now part of Clifford Chance), and as an internal counsel at the Inter-American Investment Corporation.
Mr. Dwyer received his undergraduate degree at Tufts University in Latin American Studies; his Masters degree in international business and Western Hemisphere diplomatic history at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and his Juris Doctor at Harvard Law School.
Ms. Argilagos is one of the founders and serves as General Counsel of Viamericas. She advises on strategic issues and oversees all legal matters across the business of the company, including corporate, commercial, regulatory, intellectual property, litigation, employment, ethics and governance. Ms. Argilagos also serves as President of Viamistad, the non-profit organization through which the Company organizes its corporate social responsibility initiatives. Prior to founding Viamericas, Ms. Argilagos worked for the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and the Inter-American Dialogue, as Executive Director of the Group of Fifty, a non-profit initiative that promotes economic and social progress in the Western Hemisphere. Ms. Argilagos received her undergraduate degree and Juris Doctorate at Boston College.
Mr. Castaneda is responsible for oversight of the Legal Compliance Department and manages relationships with federal and state regulatory agencies as well as federal agencies in charge of the controlling and prevention of money laundering. Mr. Castaneda has over 30 years of experience in the financial sector at money exchange and money transmitter companies, with emphasis in commercial management, development, and implementation of new products and services as well as legal compliance. Mr. Castaneda holds a Civil Engineer degree from Universidad del Valle and is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist certified by ACAMS in February of 2009.
Joel Silva joined Viamericas as Chief Financial Officer in November 2011, and is responsible for finance, treasury and cash management, planning, and back-office accounting functions of the Company. Mr. Silva has over eight years of experience in the remittance industry, as well as over 20 years of experience working in the Latin America region as a finance professional. Previous experience in the remittance industry also includes responsibility for US agent acceptance, credit & collections, and internal audit functions. Mr. Silva graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BBA in Accounting, and is a Certified Public Accountant. He is fluent in Spanish.

His extensive experience includes managing global IT organizations with over 1,200 employees, budgets in excess of $350 million, and IT integration for over 60 mergers and acquisitions.
Formerly Global Head/Senior Manager, Telecom, Media and Technology (TMT) in the Global Infrastructure and Natural Resources Department of the IFC. The unit develops the institution’s TMT strategy, undertakes global business development, and lends and invests in telecommunications, media and technology companies in the developing world.
